job interview test

During a job interview you may be faced with a number of tests, depending on the job you are applying for. Some employers will test candidates during a job interview on grammar, computer skills and mathematics and you may not know about this until you are invited to the interview. So whatever the test, here are some ways to help you prepare and perform to the best of your ability.

Researching the organisation and other similar organisations may give you a clue as to what to expect during the interview. For example, if they are advertising for a PA a test may include proof reading skills tests and a computer test. If there is a test during an interview it will be relevant to the job and an employer will be reviewing your performance during a test to ensure you have the required skills to successfully fill the role. Identifying the job role and description and researching the required skill set should help you narrow down possible test questions and should help you to feel more prepared.

To perform well during a job interview test you need to be relaxed. Spend time before the interview relaxing by exercising or by taking part in a hobby or activity. Relaxing will help you to keep calm and it will also help you to focus on the vacancy.

Plan out your day to ensure you feel organised and less nervous as this will help with your overall performance during an interview test. Plan your outfit, prepare your resume and cover letter, plan your route to the office and allow for plenty of travel time. This will help you to feel more relaxed and will help you to focus on possible test questions. If you don’t plan you could arrive late to the interview and feel disorganized during the day and this could hinder your chances of securing the job.

Job interview preparation is vital and you can do this by researching the organisation, practicing interview questions and printing out copies of your resume. But you can also prepare for an interview test by practicing possible test questions i.e. spend some time on the computer, familiarizing yourself with Microsoft packages, spend time writing emails on your computer to practice your grammar and ask a friend to write a document with spelling mistakes so you can practice proof reading. This should help you feel more confident!
